Another great course planned for you taking place in the confines of the beautiful, historic Silver Springs State Park.  The site of one of Florida's original theme parks now returned to its natural beauty.  Your run course will wind you throughout the paved trails around the park winding through mossy oaks, along silver springs river with nature surrounding you everywhere.  

The bike course is going to take you on some incredibly light traveled roads that basically circles the park with a 22k loop.  We will bring you back in the park for either another lap or your aid station located just in front of the transition area perfect for spectators.  The bike course also features a very nice climb right out of the gate of the park, intended for the planned east/west waterway connection this bridge was built high enough to get large sailboats under so you will need to get out of the saddle for this.  After that it is fast, smooth, flat sailing along again, mossy oak tree lined roads.

Transition Area

Your transition will be placed adjacent to the finish line and post-race festivities area, perfect for friends, family, and spectators to watch all the action unfold.  It will be in the large grassy area next to the concert event hall.  The transition area will be designed in the ITU long rack format.  Designed for quick in/out access.  

Open at 6:00am, and not before! Closing at 7:30 a.m.

No Friends or Family members allowed in the transition area for any reason. The race director and race officials will close the transition area 30-45 minutes before race start to ensure all athletes are at starting lines for mandatory course meetings and announcements. Once the transition area is closed, you will not be permitted back in before the race starts. Family members will not be permitted in for any reason. 

In the event of inclement weather, we recommend you have warm, dry clothing outside the transition area to put on following your finish due to other athletes still being on the bike course. Thank you for your cooperation in following these rules.

You must rack according to your race number, based on the sequence numbers placed at the end of each row. Please remember racks will hold 7 bikes racked with the seat tip on the support bar. Please be courteous to fellow athletes to ensure there is space for 7 bikes on a rack. The transition area is closed until all athletes are off the bike course. Any athletes removing gear from transition areas before the announcer or race director has officially opened the transition area will be DISQUALIFIED from the race! No questions asked. Your race number will be taken down and you will be disqualified. Sprint athletes this goes for you as well, you must wait until all the athletes are off the course and race officials open the transition area. All athletes deserve a clear transition. 

There will be an aid station at the run in/out chute with water and electrolyte replacement. Athletes wearing their own chips, PLEASE remove your chips before re-entering the transition area and exiting again. This will cause a timing error. Run in/out and bike in/out chutes are clearly marked on the large structures at either end; it is your responsibility to go the right direction.

Bike: 22k, 44k, 66k

Exiting the transition area, you will head out following a closed coned lane for the bike course on your right.  This will take you directly out of the park on the back side exiting onto E. Silversprings blvd.  Less than a mile you will start your climb over the silver springs river bridge.  Following 40 down to a Right turn on 314.  This is a fast, smooth, flat stretch of road tree-lined all the way to 35.  Your next Right turn proceeding in the Right-hand lane back to your final Right back on Silver Springs blvd.  You will enter the park via a coned lane just past the park entrance through the employee gate taking you back to transition or lap 2 and 3.  Your aid station will be located just past the transition area, perfect for friends, family, and spectator viewing while you refuel.   

Powerman Athletes ONLY – You will have water, Gatorade Endurance and Hammer gel at this aid station just past the turnaround in front of transition. The standard tosses a bottle to get a bottle is in effect.  Please note, you will have a 25m section before and after the aid station in which to toss your bottle.  Tossing a bottle or other trash along the route other than this section will result in disqualification.

Run: 2.5k, 5K and 10k

A new course this year, making a 5k loop.  So one and two loops for Classic and Short course athletes.  Sprint athletes will just make a mini loop of the course.  The entire course is enclosed within the park.  

It will be a mixture of the paved paths within the park as well as a few short cross country sections to get you across to other areas, as well as the start cross country style to thin each wave out while giving everyone a chance to get in place.  

Your course will be marked with cones, chalk, and signs.  Aid stations will be strategically placed about every mile with mile markers.  Aid station amenities: Water, Gatorade Endurance, Hammer Gel, Bananas, Pepsi

Race Tips

Those looking for a put your aero helmet on, and hammer course this is it.  With long flat stretches on the tree lined flat smooth roads, it could not be a better-designed course.  One hill to keep everyone honest out there and get the legs burning right out of the gate this is just perfect to clock an end of season bike PR.  

So the tip with the winding, flat enclosed run course is keep yourself well placed.  it is a multi-loop course in the park so if you need to make a move to get in a better position you can do it as you will know where you are with the multi-loop format.  Then If you are a climber that is where you separate yourself.  If you are a flat specialist, keep within eyesight of your competitors then drop the hammer after the hill.  

You really need to think while racing here as it is going to be fast, super fun with the multi-loop run format finishing things off.   It is a course easy to red line the entire way.
